Message of the Dean


Welcome to our school of Medicine! We are delighted that you are considering the Burnett International University (BIU) School of Medicine and Health Sciences for your medical education. The Board of Directors, faculty and staff of the Burnett International University School of Medicine and Health Sciences would like to thank you for showing interest in choosing BIU.

This website provides basic information about Burnett International University School of Medicine and Health Sciences; courses offered, requirements for admission, a flavor of life on the campus, and the academic, and social facilities available. This should give you an overview of our program and help you recognize the benefits and advantages of studying at BIU. Each semester many students start their careers at this University. In doing so they embark upon a journey that is challenging and rewarding, and above all, they will have perspective of high ethical and social codes of behavior.

BIU is committed to providing a working and learning environment for all students, faculty and staff. All members of the University are responsible for ensuring that you take advantage of this opportunity and that you are encouraged and supported in all perspectives throughout your career.

One of the things you would like to know is whether the Burnett International University School of Medicine and Health Sciences offers adequate and valuable programs which interest you. The BIU program allows you to have three semesters in one academic calendar year. The fall semester begins in September and ends approximately in the middle of December. The spring semester begins in January and ends in the middle of April. The Winter Semester begins in May and ends in the middle of August. Each semester consist of sixteen (16) weeks, with two weeks break between each semester. The prospective students may apply at three different admission dates: January, May, and September.

The Department of Clinical Rotations, which is under the supervision of the Dean of Clinical Sciences, has signed agreements with many teaching hospitals in United States, Canada, and aboard to allocate our students to hospitals for Clinical trainings. As an international and pluralist University, a number of students from other countries are studying at BIU. The Board of Directors of the Burnett International University School of Medicine and Health Sciences would like to express their deep gratitude to the Government of St Kitts for the support in establishing this campus in the beautiful Island of the Caribbean.

The Burnett International University School of Medicine and Health Sciences is established in 2003 by board certified physicians working in United States, to provide a very high-level program leading to the degree of Doctor of Medicine.
